I am a happy-go-lucky type with a heavy streak of adventure and determination! I have always enjoyed setting myself tough challenges and working towards achieving them.
In this site I hope to share with you what I have discovered keeps me ticking! In brief – pushing myself, to find my limits.
I am a firm believer that you don’t know what you are capable of until you try. This was proven to me, when without ever having run a full marathon, I ran six consecutive marathons, in six days, across the Gobi Dessert!
It was an amazing experience for me and was to set in motion many other adventures. Many of them, heavily based on endurance – I am now a multi-time international ultra-distance marathon winner.
I believe I succeeded due to my analysis of the events, the equipment, the race strategies and the physical training that was need. I then planned and executed a training and preparation plan to succeed and beat the competition. I certainly wasn’t the fittest in the races that I won, but I had prepared, both physically but more importantly mentally, to allow me to win.
I have become used to setting stretching goals for myself – and achieving most of them…. but for me, by definition, something is not a “real” adventure unless there are very real chances of failure!
My recent adventures include running across the Gobi Desert and two Arctic Expeditions. I have twice completed the world’s longest kayaking endurance race and most recently I attempted to walk across the Irish Sea in a home made hamster wheel.
I am now embarking on some other adventures: This summer I shall kayak around the Isle of Wight and I will also be dropping my Hang Glider from a Hot Air Balloon! To coin a well used phrase, usually associated with food, “Life, just doesn’t get better than this!”
Please have a look around my site… I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to get in touch…
Chris.
P.s. This is a favourite picture of mine… It is of the Irish Sea, taken from Holyhead, in Wales… (I have unfinished business here!)
