Where do I start on this one? Perhaps by saying… be careful what you think about on holiday!
I visited a friend of mine in Switzerland and ended up rowing across a local lake. Half way across I found my self thinking “wouldn’t it be better if I could run across”. Thus the “Tredalo” was born – along with a plan to cross the treacherous Irish Sea.
For this event I trained for a 48 hour non-stop effort on what was basically a mobile stepper machine. I was physically prepared to burn 36,000 Calories during the two day crossing attempt. What more of an excuse do you need to scoff endless peanuts and chocolate bars?
Sadly, things didn’t quite work out… I only made it 23 miles into the 66 mile crossing. So I have “unfinished” business with the Irish Sea… and just like Arnie said “I’ll be back”.
